About "Nish"

     My name is Michelle and the nickname that has endured throughout the years is "Nish".  The nickname stems from my last name.  I am a quarter Japanese from my father's side.  A few of my baking flavors are inspired by my Japanese heritage.  I do not like bakes that are really sweet. I'm both the baker and the photographer.  I'm not fantastic about talking about myself, so let's get to know each other!  I find getting to know people also helps me with their creative ideas.  If you have an idea, let's chat and see what we can do.  Bake-wise and photography-wise. 

     I grew up in Southern California.  I have a degree in Film Production and actually worked (and still work) in the film industry.  I have not been behind a camera for some time except for photography.  For the last 6 years, I found a passion for baking and am self-taught.  It was while I was tasting cakes for my wedding at various locations, did I think I could maybe do this!  All I could think was "My cakes are better". 

      I am always working on perfecting my work and my recipes.  I'm a bit of a perfectionist and take it very seriously if it just does not come out right.  Mainly, I aim to always please even when I know that is not always possible.  

      I bake a lot of items vegan.  I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I grew up with vegetarian sisters and one of my best friends is a vegan.  Feeding the people I love is the foundation of my baking and who I am.  If I bake vegan, I can serve everyone!  I like to include and share with everyone.  Some bakes will not be available vegan until I have perfected the recipes. 

      For the time being, I will be baking a few staples and some seasonal bakes.  The seasonal bakes will be on a first ordered, first served basis.  Contact me if you are interested in a cake, photography session, or both and we can discuss your needs so I can work up a price.
